CanTalk (Canada) Inc., “CanTalk”, is committed to ensuring that your information is managed appropriately and responsibly.

The confidentiality and integrity of your personal information is important to CanTalk and as such has modelled its privacy policies to be consistent with the Canadian privacy principals and aligned with the PIPEDA fair information principles:

Principle 1 - Accountability

CanTalk is responsible for personal information under its control.

Principle 2 - Identifying Purposes

The purpose for which CanTalk collects personal information will be identified at or before the time the information is collected. Personal information may be collected for such purposes as:

  • providing services; and
  • processing and administering the above or other purposes as necessary.

CanTalk will not use personal information for any other purpose than identified at or before the time of collection.

Principle 3 - Consent

  1. CanTalk seeks consent for all personal information it collects, uses and discloses through information provided to individuals prior to collection, or at the time of collection.
  2. If information is voluntarily provided, this is interpreted as consent to the collection, use and disclosure of personally identifiable information as described in this Privacy Policy. CanTalk will not use personal information for any purpose other than that for which consent has been provided.

Principle 4 - Limiting Collection

CanTalk does not collect, use or disclose personal information of individuals except when individuals give consent and provide the information on a voluntary basis..

Principle 5 - Limiting Use, Disclosure, and Retention

Unless the individual consents otherwise or it is required by law, personal information can only be used or disclosed for the purposes for which it was collected. Personal information must only be kept as long as required to serve those purposes.

Principle 6 - Accuracy

CanTalk makes every effort to keep personal information as accurate, complete, current and relevant as necessary for the identified purposes. CanTalk does not routinely update personal information.

Principle 7 - Safeguards

CanTalk strives to protect information in its custody and use appropriate security relative to the sensitivity of the information.

Principle 8 - Openness

CanTalk will make detailed information about its policies and practices relating to the management of personal information publicly and readily available, as requested.

Principle 9 - Individual Access

Upon request, CanTalk would informed individuals of the existence, use, and disclosure of their personal information and be given access to that information. An individual shall be able to challenge the accuracy and completeness of the information and have it amended as appropriate.

Principle 10 - Challenging Compliance
