Our Interpreters
As each language is unique, every interpreter behind that language, equally, has a unique story to share. Welcome to The Many Faces of Languages - a forum of thoughtful sharing and discovery.
We are pleased to offer this story selected for December 2023.
Story Introduction
Graciella’s Story
My name is Graciella K. I started interpreting in 2019 for different linguistic interpretation companies such as CanTalk. My love for interpretation started when I used to accompany some of my friends to immigration appointments and had to interpret for them. At that time, I had no idea such career existed - even though at my University, there was a Master’s in Public Interpretation program.
Since high school, I have been passionate about languages and the fact that I could help clients, patients, customers and more in providing the best customer service and channeling their needs has been one of my greatest joys and fulfillment. One of the best experiences I have had was to hear the cry of a baby being delivered. It brought an immense sense of joy. Being an interpreter taught me to put myself in someone else’s shoes and be compassionate about their needs.
An interpreter’s role, as a conduit, has taught me to be patient. As time evolves, I try my best to innovate and educate myself on how to serve to the best of my capacity in different fields whether medical, legal and business. CanTalk has been a great company to work with and the staff is flexible and reliable when it comes to expanding interpreters in their role.
